Arrows Move Pirates Clash To Moses Mabhida Stadium

The postponed Golden Arrows versus Orlando Pirates match from February has been rescheduled and will now be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, instead of the Mpumalanga Stadium.

The original fixture between Arrows and Pirates, set for 19 February at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammersdale, KwaZulu-Natal, was called off due to a waterlogged pitch following heavy rainfall that left the venue unplayable.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) made the decision to postpone the match due to the adverse field conditions.

The PSL has now set a new date for the game: Tuesday, 6 May, and has moved the venue to the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

This rescheduling means that Pirates, who are currently reeling after their CAF Champions League semi-final exit to Pyramids in Cairo on Friday, will have the Arrows fixture sandwiched between the two Soweto Derbies.

Pirates are scheduled to face Kaizer Chiefs in the first Soweto Derby this coming weekend at FNB Stadium in a league encounter.

The two Soweto giants will then meet again in the Nedbank Cup final on 10 May at the Durban venue. The rescheduled match against Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on 6 May means Pirates will travel to Durban early in the week to play Arrows before the Ke Yona Cup final against Chiefs.

This scheduling raises the question of whether Pirates will have a slight advantage in the Nedbank Cup final, having played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium earlier in the week, while Chiefs will be playing there for the first time in that specific week.
