Stellenbosch To Face Zamalek In The Confed Cup Quarters

South African side Stellenbosch FC has been drawn against Zamalek SC of Egypt in the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals, as revealed during Thursday’s draw in Doha at beIN Sports headquarters.

This is a challenging draw for Stellenbosch, as Zamalek are the current defending champions of the competition, having won it last year.

As Stellenbosch finished second in their group, they were unseeded. This means they will host the first leg in South Africa, while the second leg will take place in Egypt.

Impressively, Stellenbosch reached the quarter-finals without playing a single match at their home ground, Danie Craven Stadium, which was deemed non-compliant with CAF standards when the competition started this season.

The quarter-final matches are scheduled to take place in April.

If Stellenbosch wins this tie, they will face the winner of the match between Al Masry and Simba SC.

Simba SC is coached by former South African coach Fadlu Davids, who is currently aiming for his first league title in his coaching career in Tanzania.

The quarter-final draw was conducted by Rabah Madjer and Ben Malango, who won the competition with Raja Casablanca in 2021.
